Followers of Gareth Malone on the BBC’s The Choir will be aware that his latest challenge is to use the power of choral singing to give a much needed boost to the residents of South Oxhey – a non-descript and fairly run-down estate on the edge of Watford.
Maybe, instead of trying to force them to sing conventional choral songs, he should tap into their latent frustrations by forming a Valituskuoro, Finnish for ‘a chorus of complaints’. Here’s one of the better songs produced by one of these Complaint Choirs … come on South Oxhey, given what you’ve had to put up with over the years, you can do far better than this.
