Colfer plays the sympathy card

A great story on how to deal with critical crowds, from author, Eoin Colfer.  He was recently confronted by a Facebook campaign, mounted by fans of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, who were outraged by his decision to write a sequel to the Douglas Adams novel.  In an idle moment Colfer joined the Facebook Group and being a contrarian, started posting critical messages about himself … “Eoin Colfer is an a***hole” etc.  Ironically, after reading these comments, the response of many of his former critics was leap to his defence.  Maybe this is an approach that could be adopted in the word of business … adopt a policy of extreme self criticism as a way of soliciting the sympathy vote.
